Yahoo! buys

This can be a double edged sword in my opinion. Yahoo can fund the development and bring in many people who are more than frustrated at the way GameSpy has shit on their player base, making it fun once again to be in a gaming community like the old GameSpy3D and H.E.A.T. days Or, they can turn it into a advertisement whore and game portal for hundreds of those shitty Flash games for all of those worthless AOL'ers who have nother better to do with their worthless lives and their 400Mhz P-II with integrated graphics. I'm ccurrently suspecting the latter. Might be time for me to find another game browser, dammit. I love using A-S-E

Ahh, that was you eh? I have to agree somewhat. I have a lot of concerns that they will whore it out something terrible. But, they may also take a serious look into the business model of GameSpy and the amout of complaints it receives and build something viable out of it. I've even read that even though game developers can't stand GameSpy, they are the only game in town, which is why a lot of games have GameSpy built into it. On an interesting note though, last evening I updated Call of Duty and CoD:UO with the new patches just released for the games, and at the end of the games was asked if I wanted to install XFire. I found that quite interesting as a current XFire user. If Yahoo turns ASE into crapware, possibly XFire could step up some sort of developement into a game browser.
