NVMax has never sucked. It just doesn't currently support the 23.XX drivers yet. The new version will. As for the program, if you've EVER read the readme file, you would know that NVMax is not crippled by the fact he asks to register. It's almost like Trillian. Trillian has a registration section, but it doesn't harm the program in any way if you don't. He's just asking for donations. Andrew gets early releases of Nvidia's drivers and he writes for them. As far as I know, he works pretty close as one of their developers so he gets access to emails with the programmers, etc. If you want a tweaking program, the best would be NVMax. GeforceTweakUtility = Tons of non-used registry settings that could damage your system. The worst thing is that he offers little to NO explanation for all of those settings. The ones he's not sure about, he just says "I Think.....". From someone whose writing a program with all of these settings, he should know what each and every last one of them does. He doesn't. The best one was and always will be NVMax. It's simple, it gets to the point, it allows you to tweak the settings, and the developer himself offers direct support for the program on his message boards.

buddy if you want a good program then you need RivaTuner. The programmer is extremely knowledgeable of the NVIDIA drivers and has even developed SoftQuadro which can turn your regular GeForce cards into their Quadro professional equivalents. Also he only puts tweaks in his program that he knows that work, not just blindly putting every feature of the drivers in his program like GeForce and to some extent NVMax.

I wouldn't exactly say it was "retail" software but I get your drift, the new version is designed for the "retail" market as such and thus I have focused heavily on making it a viable piece of software for novice users. I should also state this software is in no way related or endorsed by NVIDIA, and is not supported by them in any way. The new look if part of the new slick spin I'm giving to the whole nvmax, the site is nearly done and the program interface is the best yet (I'm glad you like it btw) Andrew nvmax.com

Rivatuner is more powerful than NVmax, I have designed the new NVmax around features I know work so removing that "tweak and hope for the best" notation used in RivaTuner. I am now in agreeance with NV's developers (RHuddy etc) that tweaking is not benificial to users and causes more problems than anything else, this is why 'hardcore' options such as database features in NVmax 3.0 and earlier are removed in 4.0. My idea is that this will make NVmax more successful as it can be used by the manufacturers as a second control panel without having the worry of the user messing up his system with developer keys designed to debug upcoming applications. re: softquadro I have already informed Alexy he runs the risk of being sued by NVIDIA as they have an obligation to ELSA to supply protected drivers. This is a risk he is willing to take. Both RivaTuner and GTU are excellent in their own area, but the three software are different, if sharing a common bases. It's always best to have a selection so you can decide for yourself, I hope you all like NVmax 4.0. Andrew

Rivatuner detects that the many values changed in Nvmax and GeforceTweakUtility is wrong. Just use Rivatuner, the best of Nvidia card tweakers. Who cares about the GUI. It's not like Internet Explorer or WinAmp where you see it frequenty. Geforce Tweak Utility is far the worst so far.

Nvmax rules and it deserves $$$. Whoever disagrees sucks.
