i tried this with a buddy of mine, who was researching VOIP for danish national tv, and it is REALLY good, and free. quality is better than regular phones, i can reccommend it, if nothing else, just for a test. theres some phone bill money to be saved here.

well the only problem is that you cant have group conversations, but that might be a feature in the future. as of the quality of the soundstream, its really great. yahoo cant measure the least bit up to it.

your point being? the fact that you dont need to connect to a server, and that your can be recieved on a firewalled connection - even with NAT enabled, makes this an excellent solution.

I don't know m8s, I have tried this one from a broadband ADSL to a 56k dial up from Europe to America and I can tell you that the quality was NOT GOOD at all, the voice sounds like it was comming from a metallic pipe, and it got cut several times. I prefer 1000 times the ol' good buddyphone version 2 that still is working like a charm for me. It is immposible to find now, but if you can grab any version 2 of this software keep it, it is a precious gem, it works in combination with icq if you like. The only nice thing from skype was the friendly firewall and nat design, but the quality, at least in my tests, was not good. Maybe for 2 broadband connections it can work better, but hey, then msn or any other soft can do the trick.
