So, he starts of saying he avoids all-in-1 tweakers & instead recommends you get BootVis, Avant Browser, TCP/IP Optimizer, PageDefrag, Unplug n' Pray, Spybot , Ad-aware, TweakUI, CCleaner , Cacheman, XP-Antispy, Shoot The Messenger, EVEREST Home Edition (& free Anti-Virus if you've got none), thus cluttering your PC with a load of utilities. A while later it's mentioned about Services to close, which ironically enough includes the ones you'd be doing with Shoot The Messenger & Unplug n' Pray - both pointless downloading as a result. Other than "that", there's better guides out there.

1. The Utilities I recommend do not clutter your PC. They are all Free and are usually run only once. So if they really bother you remove them. Except of course for the AV and Spyware ones. 2. No All-in-1 Tweaking utilities offer ALL these tweaking options in one package and definitely not for free. Most All-in-1 Utilities have some settings that either A. Do nothing to improve performance or B. Change settings that cause problems with other software. This guide is about performance but not by sacrificing stability or compatibility. 3. Everest is only mentioned for Hardware Identification and it is a very good utility at that. If you know what your hardware is exactly you do not need this. 4. The reason for including Shoot the Messenger and Unplug and Pray is for novice users so if they found the services guide too complicated they could at least get those two services disabled simply. I know Messenger spamming with broadband and Windows XP is a big problem. Not to mention this is Written in the GUIDE: "Using this guide you will free up enormous amounts of memory by disabling useless Services turned on by default in XP. Run XP-AntiSpy, Shoot The Messenger and Unplug n' Pray first before going through this guide since those utilities will disable some of these Services for you." 5. You are welcome to submit any tweaks from other guides in. I have read quite a few guides and have not found anything substantial. The few I have found I have tested and added. Remember alot of other guides mention complex registry tweaks that the provided utilities do for you. I prefer an easier end user experience with tweaking. 6. Also I am always open to new ideas so if you know of better guides please send them to me and why they are better. But again I will not sacrifice stability and compatibility for performance, so keep that in mind.
