NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder 1.02.145

What you meant was probably "NVIDIA_DVD_Decoder_v1.00.67.exe" , that is simply a mpeg2 codec (for playback of DVD's etc.). Not sure if this new thing is an update of that or something a bit different. The Nvidia DVD decoder is, by the way, probably the best decoder you can get for PC. (Does hardware acceleration, adaptive deinterlacing and some other advanced postprocessing - on Geforce6 cards, some of it also on Ati cards) It simply shows as a little icon on the lower right of the Desktop, but only when you playback an mpeg2 file. As it is only a codec and no Player, you can use it with the Player you want ( Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic ...) That media center thing is merely a bonus for those that want it, I do not use that. After the 30-Day trial period, the Codec stops working (and the icon does not show up anymore)

Dont know about Nero and Mega Codec Pack since I dont use Codec Packs (anymore) Got ffdshow installed, but AFAIK it has no mpeg2 Codec. Gotta say it again, it is a codec for watching DVD's (also HD Mpeg2 DVD's, blueray's etc.) replacing other Software DVD Players. Also included is a AC3 /DTS Audio Decoder with Dolby Headphone functionality. There aren't that many free mpeg2 Codecs out there, in fact I know only the one integrated in Media Player Classic...(and the Elecard one with an logo) "It seems a little hokey to PAY for a codec" Well normally you have ALWAYS to pay for a DVD Player - PowerDVD, WinDVD arent free either... Dont know about Bundles, was not included with my 6600GT though :(
