Nvidia Detonator 27.xx DVD Playback Problems?
unknown
I think this better posted in the forum instead of the home page. Its is problem concerning one person without any proof. Picture of the prob would be nice too.

Many people have this problem. Its hardware acceleration. If you have a fast enough pc then disable Hardware Acceleration in Powerdvd and all will be fine. These are beta drivers and this isnt really worth mentioning since a new set should be right around the corner and will most likely have the Hardware Acceleration fixed. Kris NVmax Editor

Ya-ya.. i have this problem too!... CPU on 100% using, bad picture in all video players! [I think problem in overlays] But i resetup drivers 23.12 [by Technograb] and problem still there :-/ PS. I see that problem in W2K and XP!

I'm using power DVD 4.0 and never had any problems with it using Windows2k. The problem must be because people are watching not well ripped dvds (Hackers II as an example). Original dvds are are playing perfectly.

I don't have any problems but i don't use hardware acceleration with powerdvd because the picture quality is bad with it switched on...

27.42 seemed to fix the subtitle errors for me. Also seemed to fix some random reboots I was having too.

Never thought of upgrading to Power DVD 4.0 XP ? You know XP, that must stand for something ?

after SUPR3M3 posts I checked my copy of PowerDVD 3.0 Patch Build 0905 on w98se with det 27.42 and I can confirm I got problems with DDraw files and it's asking for DX runtime file asking me to update the DX files to the lastest DX since I already have DX8.1 build 810!! it's the drivers. Try forcing bob or weave. Bob work fine with me with 27.42.

Yes, same here. I did a fresh install of Win XP using the 27.20 drivers a couple of weeks back, and when I ran WinDVD3 the system froze. After I removed these drivers and installed the latest recommended drivers from NVidia's site, things were OK. Jay-Jay

I don't use hardware acceleration anyway. It just freezes my computer. With AMD TB 1466 & Geforce 2 TiTanium, you don't need it.

Hi everyone! I had the same problems with the 27.xx drivers. But I have tried something else; I un-installed the old drivers from the Control panel and removed my video card from the device management! Then i installed the WHQL 23.12 drivers and after that i installed the new 27.42 drivers with as result fantastic results in PowerDVD XP, with hardware acceleration enabled!!!! Succes, with it.

I use, 27.20 no problems with DirectVA (Hardware Accleration)... other than when it's turned on, I no longer have sub-titles showing... I also have PowerDVD XP with patch 1228... (this will NOT install over the ILLEGAL Fosi-aPPz version!!!, wich has problems with DirectVA!!!)
unknown
Btw, I did try both, and later on bought the official PowerDVD pack!!

In Detonators 23.xx and 27.xx nVidia has replaced an own code of stretch of the image in nv4_disp.dll with a call of function EngStretchBlt of the module GDI32.dll. This brake is shown not only in DVD, but also at viewings MPEG video and at job of WEB-cameras. If the image is shown without the stretch, all OK.
