Microsoft V5 Windows Update Out

i'd think that language and location matters too. it's not out in other languages yet, you your windows location would prolly have to be US or UK before you get v5. speculation.

If you had automatic updating enabled then you should have received the control which redirects you to the v5 website already. If you had automatic updating disabled then you'll need to manually download the update.

You can get to the v4 site by unregistering wuweb.dll with the following command: regsvr32 /u windowssystem32wuweb.dll Then go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and you'll be at the v4 site. I had to do this because the v5 updater still has some flaws in it. When I reported them I was told that Microsoft doesn't support beta software. This won't work for much longer since the v4 site will be going away in a few weeks. Then you'll need to reregister the wuweb.dll file: regsvr32 windowssystem32wuweb.dll

or... just go into C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32 and delete WUWEB.DLL itself.... worked for me :D

I actually bought xp when it first came out, never again, every time I change some hardware the activation goes belly-up and I have to call to reactivate. The automated answering service *never* gives me a new key and forced me to talk to an operator who will always ask me if I am running the OS on more than 1 computer and then talks to me like she thinks I'm a criminal after I tell her no.
