I'll have to agree with Ryokurin. Any new computer that is sold by Dell, Gateway, and HP/Compaq already come standard with DVD players, if not a DVD-RW. The prices for them have come down far enogh to justify them. However, the amount of games released on the medium does not justify the purchase. The only worthwhile contemporary buy would be (if you don't have an xbox or ps2) the hard-to-find Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. A great use of DVD i think. Six discs is going to be very cumbersome to deal with as well. Let the no-cd cracks flourish... Personally, i'd like to see some old FMV classics hit DVD i.e. Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive. My $0.02

why should it cost more??? its like 5 cents to mass produce a cd, and that was several years ago, its prob down to 3-4 now.

Im not paying ~50$ on a dvd drive just to play a game... I wont until almost all new games are on DVDs and what percentage are people who just bought a computer from dell or compaq? not that many...

Personally, when i built my computer, i bought a dvd player and a burner, two seperate drives. I would think that this would be the optimal setup for the people who built their computers. I think you would be suprised to see how many people still buy pre-made computers rather than self-built. Why do you think all those companies are turning over increasing profits every quarter? Most people are lazy. Isn't that what all this comes down to? We don't want to swap all those cds out!
