Can't tell if its real or not but you can download exactly same skin to desktopX from www.wincustomize.com, with desktopX you can make your desktop look just the way you want.. So i'm not sure if m$ has done that..
I don't think Stardock would be doing the new desktop for Windows.NET - I remember a while back that MS were advertising for an interface designer willing to work on a next-gen interface (I believe the article was on The Register ages ago?).
Also, there's no doubt that SShot is fake - it's too childish in terms of the shading and too big and whacky for MS to ever allow you to use. Admittedly Luna is pretty big and chunky, but at least it's functional - unlike that skin which obscures most of your desktop. -:
