Jakub's Rant: 'Real-world' Benchmarking

Pretty simple.. Most people care about performance under high details. Since when is the last time you've bought a new $2k rig to play your video games at 640x480, that's pretty stupid. This is pretty much commonplace for the last 2+ years or so the limits in current gaming performance is GPU power not CPU power. So this just shows the Core processor really doesn't offer much better "gaming" performace then the current A64 parts that have been around for awhile now. So basically if your already A64 there really isn't a great need to upgrade to a Core if your only playing games.. Now if your trying to encode and do other things then yes Intel has pretty much always had a lead on AMD. I willing to bet this is more cause of the compilers and tools are better optimized for Intel then AMD.. The biggest reason AMD has been in the lead for CPU gaming is cause of their onboard memory controller, Core 2 only now caught up since they finally dumped their crappy P4 tech and redone their older P3 tech..
