How Much Does a High-End Graphics Processor from NVIDIA and ATI Cost?
dzjepp
No sh*&, and how much does a game cost to make? 2 cents for the CD? They are in it to make a profit... go buy the chip and make one yourself see if you can come up with anything. Oh and R&D costed them millions of dollars, so the high price of the cards means they can re-gain some of that money. Same for videogames... they might cost a few cents to manufacture, but how much actuall money went into MAKING the game?

thats right ... but sometime you have to ask is it REALLY worth the price ??? I mean you speak about games.... In the last time much game came out ... but are these really good games ??? NO they aren't lets take the most common example Unreal 2 was that really a good game ??? is it worth the price a simple clear NO nowadays everything is getting more and more expensive but do you really get something better compared to the other days .... I remember when I bought my first real 3D video card (a VooDoo Banshee) for that time it cost me 110DM which is around 55$ and it was at that time a really good card it was not the best but it was good And I was happy with it .... but nowadays ... I have to pay 3 times as much money as in the past and can I be satisfied ? In the past I was able to play every game with highest details fast nowadays the 3x$ card is normal to be able just play the games OK OK this is a bit superficial and a bit exaggerated but You got the idea ?

this price mentioned is for the main chip only, it doesn't take all the other bits and bobs it takes to make a graphics card, not to mention the cost of R&D, and joining all those bits together. For overall Value for Money, the price of high-end graphics cards seem a little steep, but i remember a m8 of mine paying over £300 for a 64meg GeForce 2 card, and he is still using it today (that was top card at the time). you can buy a RADEON 9800 PRO or the GeForce FX 5800 Ultra for that now, and have change So prices have changed for the better, possible due to the reduction of R&D, and the greater use of super computers to design them
