If this would be true it would be very stupid from Valve because they will loose lot s of buyers. Myself wouldn´t change grafics card for a game. Also if they do it a new kind of "war" would be born and that would be very bad for all out here. Than it s similar the same than with X-Box, Game Cube e.g. For every system different games. Hope that this will never happen.
If this become true it can be the worst thing that can happens to all us gamers. I really hope this idea will never see daylight! This is like returning to the times of Glide vs directx, only much worst.
Why should ATI use Cq? They have RenderMonkey and 3Dlabs is cooperating with them on RenderMonkey usability and improvement too ... plus ATI is following standards (DirectX and OpenGL) but nVIdia is always doing all 'theirs' way ...
Eh ? UT2003 still have OpenGL renderer :) ... and it will sure get improved for OpenGL 2.0 etc. Epic was always supporting both (because of linux user :) ...
"most ATI 9700 and 9800 owners will buy the nv35 for sure this summer" lol dont count on it... the R400 isnt on ice either. and shouldnt we stop hyping the nv35 in light of the utter disappointmen that was nv30? ati has a small marked share? last diagram i saw was before the r300 where nvidia had a bit more than 50%, ATI had 30 something and the rest was other vendors. I believe that has changed a lot since r300 and specificly the 9500 nonpro.
They're heading down the 3dfx path
