GeForce FX canned?

If they have pulled the plug on it, it's the smartest move they could make. Yes they invested a lot of time/money in it, but they've invested a lot more time/money in their name/reputation. If the FX is half the unwielding noisy beast it's made out to be it's going to be only the silly enthusiasts card-o-choice this season. Yes they'll lose a lot by just canning it now, but they'd lose a HELL of a lot more if they just kept up pretending that the FX is a total failure before it's even released. If this story is true, (and I think it is), than nVidia has figured out what the rest of us already knew and is biting the bullet and moving on. Not an easy move, not a fun move; but the best move they could make right now. Admitting a failure and moving on will be a hell of a lot cheaper than continuing to deny reality and all the jokes on the net about your card and continuing to bill it as "the gamer's choice" I think the final straw was a bit of a misunderstanding by Mr.Hu. I don't think he was misquoted yesterday about the R350 being a chopped down R300, (It's not, the RV350 is the chopped R300...the R350 is the next generation of R300, the FX killer. ;) ), I think he was honestly confusing the two and had no idea that ATI was getting ready to release a new generation of chip before the FX even hit the shelves....and I think that cracked his will. :)

It would be the smart thing to do but when have computer companies ever done anything smart. This smells like what happened to Digital.
