Detonator 27.10 W2K / XP Geforce 4 Support

Not bad so far. Haven't tried to benchmark yet. I did notice that my system was a little slow until I went in and disabled the Desktop Manager under properties. (In addition to disabling the .CPLDaemon that runs on startup and the NVidia Driver Helper Service.) Things were back to being speedy then. ;) Oh! And if you do a straight update from the 23.12's one of the old .DLLs (nvdesk32- old; nview- new) will "hang around" but won't appear to conflict with anything. (Do a complete uninstall of the older drivers THEN do an update to these to test them.) Yowza! :)

what about us Win98/ME users? ; (

Hi Yowza I can only find the NVidia Driver Helper Service but where do you have the CPLDaemon ?!?! Regards Friendly

What is that CPLDeamon actually for? Is it safe to disable it?
unknown
It seems that it was removed from the download list... Just when I was downloading (dammit). :-( If there are any other mirror, please post here. Also, the mirror on Europe is not working too.

You can use a tool like RegCleaner (I like this one) to check which services are started at boot time. There a NvCplDaemon can be deactivated. But I don't know what it actually does.

Disabling the NvCplDaemon may not always make your system run faster. The detonators save some custom changes this way. If you for example increased the clock frequencies of your graphics card (by using the well-known coolbits-registry-tweak), these settings will be loaded on every bootup via the NvCplDaemon. So disabling the NvCplDaemon will reset your frequencies to default (slower) settings.

This mirror is down...looks like not alived demand!
