Catalyst 4.7 for Windows 98/ME

4.7 for 98/ME? Now that's what I call adding insult to injury

MuffinMan
How so?

Rosco
For me, the OpenGL in the 4.7's have been the worst with XP since before the Catalyst drivers were released. Sure it looks nice, until every OpenGL game I have either crashes to desktop or completly locks up the system. I moved back to 4.6 and have had no more issues. And of course, we are talking about 98/ME, which is fine, if you play CS.

Insane
Ive used 4.7 on 2 machines since the day it came out and have played numerous games without a single lockup on either machine while playing. Might want to run a check on yer machine?? You didnt state what OS you are on, but if it were 98/ME then its time for an upgrade anyhow.

sounds like you need a fresh install :P

Unfortunatly, it is a fresh install, less then 2 month on a brand new hard drive, running XP SP1. I might "0" out the HDd and try it again though, not sure what happened, all I know is that it all started when I installed the 4.7's

Edit: I have discovered it was not the Catalyst drivers after all. A friend just disclosed to me a thread at Folding@Home support forum that the GUI client tends to freeze up OpenGL games. I shut down Folding@Home and the lock ups have gone away. I'm back to using the 4.7's again and no problems at all.
