There are also no ASPI drivers for the Unix operating systems. Adaptec understands some third party vendors of products, such as scanners and tape drives and other devices, are sending customers to the Adaptec web site to download an ASPI driver for these Operating Systems. If you have been misdirected to our site, looking for an ASPI driver for one of these operating systems, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Microsoft has made major design changes in the structure of their operating systems. Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP are not designed to use the older style ASPI layer and undesirable results can and will happen if the older style ASPI layer is installed on your computer system. This is a design specification of the operating system and is controlled by the manufacturer of the operating system. Bah ! i have used the adaptec aspi layers with w2k for months without a single problem (many, many cd burned). For the past three months, i have used it with winxp, without problem either. So one word : bullshit !! :)

What a piece of crap, doesn't work the way it is described, plus you can't change your system back the way it was.
