great, ATI just sit back and let everyone bash NVIDIA for like, a year, and then expect to jsut brush it aside when someoen finally notices they're doing the same thing? can't stand the way they're bashing MXM too..

Before anyone yells at me or accuses me of anything today I thought it best to post up that I did read ATi's reply to this and I still haven't figured out how I feel about it yet due to the fact that I ain't got the attention span to sit down and absorb it all since both my kids are home sick today and I'm finishing up a rebuild on me main rig. I'll figure it out sometime today, please don't think I'm just dodging the issue. I just ain't got the time right now to sit and focus me thoughts on anything as real-life is my priority today.

Optimizations in life are all that keeps me from falling too far behind. :roll: As soon as me kids missed school because they were "sick" they suddenly got all betterer.....just to make it interesting me wife who's today is her first day off since last Thursday suddenly took rather violently ill after the kids "got all betterer" and she's now laying down and I'm hoping getting some rest. At the same time I'm trying to get me house clean and caught up on laundry while calling around all the local Walmarts/Targets/Toys-r-Us to find a bloody pool and a 20' high inflatable waterslide for my son's 7th birthday on Sunday and I STILL haven't found a good place to pick up a decent pogostick for him yet! (I know, pogosticks suck....but it's what he has his heart set on and if he don't get one he'll be crushed. :( ) Yeah, I'm just glad I got me PC fixed up last night by staying up 'til about 3am. (I'd picked up a bargain case w/window at the show this weekend and transfering over from me old case just had complications up the yim-yam!!! :( ) Granted staying up 'til 3 and then turning around and getting up at 6:30 to wake everyone up and make 'em breakfast and get 'em dressed and ready can be a royal biatch...not to mention the personal aggravation when after all that it's a case of "all dressed up and no where to go.". Oh, and it's raining out like a mofo. :( I think I'm gonna turn the world off for a 1/2 hour and game for a while just to work off some stress. :roll:

Nvidia has the same perf. to Qual. slider, so what makes them liers and Ati saints ? The shaders don't have anything to do with these optimisations "cheats", so don't involve them into this conversation, this is purely about the "brilinear" filtering matter...

actually iirc, there was more than just a couple instances that nvidia changed the appearance of the scene, including application detction, and even replacing screenshots. entire seens where missing fog effects, etc (i cant recall what games did that off hand) i agree about the dragon, that was a bit too obvious to be a cheat... but that could be indicative of what was going on with driver development though. alot of people touted tile rendering from the Kyro (powervr) cards, and no one called that cheating. ati found a way to optimize their gaming cards to provide optimal eye candy and maintain good speeds my two cents is all cheers

I was going to get him the Foam Maverick from the site you listed, but when I went to check out online the security certificates were expired and the CC bit of the form was insecure...so I did the only logical thing and didn't order it online. I called 'em up and got an answering machine for what sounded like a guy running a contract construction company and I was a bit reticent to trust 'em to get the stick here by Sunday. I'm gonna try me local Toys-R-Us tomorrow when me and my wife go get the pool and waterslide, I'm gonna make me backyard FUN this summer! 8) BTW-Real-life is actually going really well for me, it's just sort of busy and stressful as hell. But the kids are doing well, the wife is doing well, and I must admit that even I am feeling awfully happy and content lately....I just reserve the right to whine as that's how I got started posting on the boards. ;)

yup agree totally, heck i dont EVER use trilinear, i go for the quicker Bilinear myself... of course... my card sucks, but even though, i'm pefectly happy with bilinear. i mean usually it takes going over screenshots in photoshop zoomed in nicely to tell some of this stuff anyway. when i noticed the nvidia stuff.. it was while i was playing a game side by side with a friend of mine... i'm like.. wait a minute.. this pc doesnt have smoke effects where yours does, etc etc... it was subtle.. but very noticable.. even if the pc's wasnt sitting side by side. that being said... neither looked that bad (i cant recall which damn game.. i play so many of em lol) from what i recall... but missing entire effects from a scene... no way.. unacceptable. i'm for what works.. what makes the person happy, you like your nvidia card.. great... sure it does you just fine, you like ATI.. great... same to you too (you being general.. not specifically you Truth:)) but at the same time, i'm also not surprised at "fanboy" type attitudes at all... its like Chevy vs. Ford those who love the stuff they buy promote it.. sometimes with more passion than most mfg's do. (ever see someone get into a fist fight over who's car is better/faster)...sadly.. i have. i build pc's on the side, i'm no guru.. but i've been doing pc's for... a long time now... if someone asks me to build them a pc, and we go over the parts, and it comes down to video cards, i tell em strait out the plus and minus of both cards in as neutral a way as i can and let them decide. heck if they want a matrox, or even an old Voodoo 3.. its up to them.. whatever they want.. whatever makes em happy. odd thing is.. i dont remember this big of a deal being made back when it was discovered PCChips was supergluing cache chips onto their mobo's.. and they where not even connected lol.. now THATS something to get mad at:) cheers.
