Nullsoft has released a new version of Winamp 3.0c.

Nullsoft Winamp is the ultimate high-fidelity music player for Windows 95/98/NT/XP. Winamp supports MP3, CD and other audio formats, more than 10,000 skins and 150 audio visualization and effect plug-ins.

Foobar2000 Media Player is a very very recommendable player. It is developed by Peter Pawlowski who is or used to work on Winamp3. Who really knows.
FB2000 uses a plain and simple UI - no skins, no fuss. Current version is 0.28 beta which does not require an installation. Filesize is 399kb, while in playback mode the player approximately consumes 1.9Mbyte of your RAM which is so much less compared to Winamp or MS Media Player.

LAME started life as a GPL'd patch against the dist10 ISO demonstration source, and thus was incapable of producing an mp3 stream or even being compiled by itself. But in May 2000, the last remnants of the ISO source code were replaced, and now LAME is the source code for a fully GPL'd MP3 encoder, with speed and quality to rival all commercial competitors.

Just got word from Patrick that a new build of Winamp3 has been released! This seems to be the next public beta although it still says "internal" and a changelog is not supplied. First impressions... Each of your CDROMs is now listed in the playlist and the media info editor has been greatly updated.

The legend returns the latest version of probably the second-most ripped skin of all time. This is one of those skins that should be in everyone's library; tons of color schemes, a great winshade mode, and awesome animations make this skin one to die for. Another Winamp3 Update (Coding and tweaks) or Winamp3 Extension Patch didn't work in new version of Winamp3 (Winamp3b build 488). A new version has arrived.
