A pre-release version of Sonique2 is now available for public consumption. It is being called an Alpha release to reflect the fact that Sonique2 still has a ways to go before it will be ready for release. Alpha builds are buggy, unsupported and unfinished. Install them at your own risk.

Peter Gabriel's new album, "Up," debuted Tuesday in stores--and on the Web in Windows Media 9 Series format. In what Microsoft claims is a Web first, the album comes in 5.1-channel surround-sound audio. Consumers can preview the entire album, before deciding whether to purchase "Up." The price was not immediately available. Playback is limited to first week of October. Afterwards, thanks to DRM playback will not be possible.

The surround-sound download is a hefty 188MB. A 62MB version of the file in ?stereo? format is also available.

Sharman Networks, the company behind KaZaA, has just released an overhauled version of their file sharing software. KaZaA is still adware and was developed to bring more convenience for users to the software. There are new updates available for Winamp 2 & 3. And it contains the latest plugins. The Winamp 2 File is dated 01-09-2002 (a bit old but newer then 2.81) and the Winamp 3 file is dated 19-09-2002 and it took a while when the Winamp 3 update arrived.
