Though it's something that a lot of people look into, a quiet PC is something that isn't something enthusiasts really consider. Let's face it, a noisy PC usually means an overclocked and speedy one. Granted, the growing popularity of water cooling has addressed the noise problem, but there are plenty of other areas we can look into to lower the volume in the den. One area is the PSU, and Enermax has addressed this with their Noisetaker line of products. Today, we'll be taking a look at their 375W EG375P-SFMA FCA Noisetaker PSU.

High-End CPU?s from AMD and Intel Compared

Published by Newsfactory 0

GamePC have posted their AMD and Intel CPU Comparsion that looks at Server chips in the shape of AMD's new Opteron 248 and Intel's new Xeon 3.2 GHz/1MB processors!

When looking at these two CPU's on paper, both have advantages when it comes to data serving. For example, the Opteron's integrated DDR memory controller will decrease latency to system memory, while its Hyper-Transport linked bridge chips will allow for more bandwidth with populated PCI-X bus connections. On the Intel side, the Xeon has a massive 1.5 MB of on-die cache, which runs at full 3.2 GHz clock rate, 1 GHz faster compared to the fastest Opteron's cache speeds.

Intel shifts 64-bit emphasis

Published by [NT] 0

News.Com: Intel plans to demonstrate a 64-bit revamp of its Xeon and Pentium processors in mid-February--an endorsement of a major rival's strategy and a troubling development for Intel's Itanium chip. The demo, which follows the AMD64 approach of Intel foe Advanced Micro Devices, is expected at the Intel developer conference, Feb. 17 through 19 in San Francisco, according to sources familiar with the plan. Intel had code-named the technology Yamhill but now calls it CT, sources said. Read on at sources website.

Pentium 4 Coolers Roundup Q4'2003

Published by Newsfactory 0

Digital-Daily have thrown up their Pentium 4 Coolers Roundup with Coolers from FSP ,Spire , Glacialtech ,Titan and Intel.

The emergence of first Prescott processors once again revealed that the problem of heat emission is increasingly hampering the rise of clock speeds. To put it right, the major problem is the increased of leakage currents, and the increased heat emission is the consequence of this phenomenon. However, that does not change the fact of the matter: everyone who buys computers in 2004 will face the need for effective cooling.

Hardware Zone have thrown up their 46 page Athlon 64 motherboard shootout with boards from Abit, Albatron, AOpen, Asus, Biostar, Chaintech, Epox, Gigabyte, Leadtek, MSI, Shuttle & Soltek.

When AMD launched the desktop processor based on the new AMD64 technology in September during the annual Computex show in Taipei, users all around the world heralded the dawn of 64-bit computing. The Athlon 64 managed to get a lot of users' attention mainly because of its flexible architecture which allows one to use the processor even in current 32-bit environments. That in itself could help move the industry into the 64-bit space as it allows users to run current legacy codes while they wait for new operating systems and applications to be made available.
