Half-Life 2 Done Quick Movie

Gamer's Hell reports a new movie from the Quick Done series which started with Quake years ago has been added in our download area. David 'marshmallow' Gibbons played Half-Life 2 from the beginning to the end in 2 hours, 57 minutes and 35 seconds. All demos are captured to AVI by David Rickard, appended into one file and compressed to one 320x240 version. More details can be found here. Since the release of the full Source SDK from VALVE (developers of Half Life 2 and Counter Strike Source), programmers and modders have been experimenting with the source code lately. I myself with trying to make my own modification for Half Life 2. While viewing the source code, I noticed several comments and code related to Team Fortress 2, a game which was supposed to be released years ago.

Half-Life 2 Bullet Time Mod v1

This small Half-Life 2 script makes the game go "bullet-time" when pressing "b" button and while in bullet-time the physics and ragdolls fly a lot further than in normal mode. Due to no physics on bullets except crossbow, grenades, rpg and bugbait, the other weapons' bullets won't slow down.

Half-Life 2 Stuttering Problem - Fix Coming Soon

A solution for the stuttering problem has been found and a fix is coming. I've been talking with Gary McTaggart about this today and it turns out that my texture management theory was correct. A patch will be coming for this issue that will load all of the required textures into video memory on level load, rather than doing it during game play. There is currently no ETA for this patch, but I will post an update as soon as I get more information.

Update: The patch should come out no later than tomorrow.

It seems ATI's benchmarks were flawed pretty badly.
The Tech Lounge and [H]ardOCP have some different numbers to show you.

As for calling one video card a ?winner? over the other, it just does not seem feasible and would likely be irresponsible to do so. ATI?s X800 series has not thrashed NVIDIA?s 6800 series silicon as many expected. Half Life 2 simply plays great on video cards from both NVIDIA and ATI. So let?s make this clear

The Halo for Windows v1.06 Hotfix addresses a rare crash bug that could occur if a malicious individual (hacker) purposely imitates a game server and sends invalid data to clients who try to browse the server list. I wanted to make this review short and sweet, but it's hard to stop writing, even when excluding facts that could potentially contaminate an exceptionally well thought-out gaming experience. There's just so much to say. Half-Life 2 is, simply put, the best single-player shooter ever released for the PC. It does so many things right in so many ways that it might be possible to write a thesis on the topic of Half-Life 2 compared to other single player shooters.
