Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) today announced that PS3 with 20GB hard disk drive (HDD) will come equipped with HDMI (Ver 1.3/supporting Deep Colour) output as standard with the system. PS3 with 20GB HDD will become available in Japan at a new recommended retail price of 49,980 yen ($428/£226/?336) tax included.

Microsoft demoed the device with Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, while announcing a surprising new feature coming to Xbox 360: support for 1080p resolutions via a software update. Unless Microsoft is planning on fitting all existing Xbox 360's with another output solution, we assume 1080p will be possible via the component cables already bundled in every machine.
