Plextor Japan has released a new firmware for their 20X CD-Write, 10X CD-ReWrite, 40X CD-Read, 12X-DVD-Read ATAPI CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. Plextor Europe and Plextor USA have not yet updated their pages. The flashing procedure is in english though. There's a new version of Roxio Easy CD Creator Basic out which updates the basic version of Easy CD Creator version 5.x to version 5.3.0.114 and updates Direct CD to version 5.3.0.105. It also adds support for DVD+RW drives but this update is from Compaq and not directly from Roxio.

Ultima Electronics has given out details to their newest CD-Writer, which will be the fastest on the market, blazing at 52x, that's 7,800K per second.

Ahead Software has updated the famous CD burning suite Nero to version 5.5.9.0. As usual their website has not been updated yet with this latest version so a changelog is not yet available. We will inform you as soon as we learn more.

Again a new version of the CD copying tool has been posted at the Blindwrite website. As you may know, Blindwrite Suite is a set of 2 programs, Blindread and Blindwrite. As Blindread exists since several years, the previous version of Blindread was numbered 3.2.x.x while the previous version of Blindwrite was version 1.2.x.x. To simplify technical support, and because the last release was a major versio a common version number 4.x for the 2 applications was introduced.
