In an interview here to Businessweek Online , Linus Torvalds has called Rats with rabies and Wrong in any imagined position. I think , he is pissed off by SCO tactics of mud-slinging LINUX in enterprise community without any independently proven proof on paper.
Digital Rage @ GeekExtreme.com: PETA Strikes Again
As Editor-In-Chief of GeekExtreme.com, I give my opinion on a lot of things. Normally, I don't comment on ideas outside of the "Geek Universe." However, recently PETA moved me to do just that. With a single graphic image and the slogan "YOUR MOMMY KILLS ANIMALS," PETA succeeded in getting my attention. Have the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals gone too far?
Novell applies for Unix SystemV code copyright ,which Sco claims ownership ,and
As said here , Novell has registered for the copyrights on UNIX System V 2, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.2/386, 4.0, 4.1, 4.1ES, 4.1ES/386, 4.2, and 4.2MP with the U.S. Copyright Office. Which SCO has already claimed for ownership and is trying to spam Fortune 1000 linux using companies to seek damages for IP infringement. I remember getting all cozy on reading Novell's take-over of Ximian (a linux developer) for 200 millions (approx.) and also about rumours of IBM thinking of getting Novell.
But if this news by Groklaw.net is true, then all hell might break loose in the linux world and that makes me sick. But Guess who is happy with this news? For complete synopsis on Novell's SystemV code registration warp2.. Groklaw.net

XGI using application specific 'optimising' ?
Martin Malik from www.hwinfo.com has found a file in Reactor drivers for XGI Volari VPUs that refers to numerous game and benchmark titles. The purpose of the file is not clear, but we may suggest that the file is made with the purpose to activate specifically created presets for every game or benchmark software used.
Currently the file xrvkp.sys contains the following executable files:

MSI To Join ATI Graphics Partner List?
µ is reporting that MSI is set to join ATI's graphics partner list. If this turns out to be true, it will be the second big (first tier) Nvidia graphics provider after ASUS to start supplyng its own ATI products. ATI is winning its battle one - after - one. First it dethroned Nvidia as the owner/provider of cutting-edge-fast graphic card provider by releasing the R300 line of AGP cards. Then Microsoft announced they have selected ATI (graphic) along with IBM (core processor) to make the upcoming XBOX 2 consoloe, and now 2 big taiwanese AGP manufacturers (ASUS & MSI (no radeon product yet))will supply its products. The official announcement should come in January where many market analysts await a new wave of next-gen product announcements.

Microsoft Bob
Huh, whats that?
Today NTFS.org got to have a look at Microsoft Bob again, this time running on an XP machine. It Installs perfectly and runs without a hitch.
Its an official MS product, released in 1995. "Bob" was designed to replace the desktop of Windows 3.1 and 95 with an interface designed mainly for novices and children.
Its actually pretty cool.
You can check it out Microsoft Bob

Pixel Shaders
The boys at K5 have posted a look at Pixel and Vertex shaders used in todays video games. Its a bit technical, so if you get bored easily steer clear of this one. If you program or play computer games or even recently attempted to purchase a video card, then you will have no doubt heard the terms "Vertex Shader" and "Pixel Shader". What do they mean, other than that marketdroids will never cease to invent crappy technology jargon? Hear all the noise about "Hardware T&L" a couple of years ago? It's all related and this article will attempt to describe it all neatly for you.
RIAA files 80 more file swapping suits
According to this story the RIAA has files 80 more law suits against file swappers. The action marks a second round of suits against computer users who, record label investigators say, have made hundreds or even thousands of copyrighted songs available for download through peer-to-peer services such as Kazaa. The first round, filed in early September, targeted 261 individuals accused of putting "egregious" amounts of music online.
Enterprise to Mach 5
Thanks to Slashdot for the story, the University of Queensland laser diagnostics dept has a page where they test Star Trek's Enterprise (not TNG) to Mach 5 in a wind tunnel. You can see how it did here. For StarTrek fans we tested the USS Enterprise in our super-orbital expansion tube - X2. A scale model was placed in the test section and the facility used to generate a high speed gas flow of around 6.6 km/s. This was passed over the Enterprise for a duration of approximately 100 microseconds.

Intel to build Indian fab??
TheInquirer.net is whispering that Intel might be thinking of building fab in India as, last week Craig Barrett, Intel's CEO, appeared to rule out China as a place , given that US export restrictions forbid very high tech ventures being built there. News-Source:- µ
