ATi Comes To Israel
ATi is one of the largest chip manufacturers in the world, but despite its wide range of products and the many markets it is active in, we haven't seen any particular interest in Israel from ATi - that is, until now. Recently, three senior ATi officials came to Israel for a brief visit, during which they held a press conference and presented the company's agenda for the future home computing market.
ATI All-In-Wonder and Crossfire
A question that has been asked fairly frequently is whether ATI?s All-In-Wonder multimedia combination boards, such as the recently announced All-In-Wonder X1800 XL, will work in ATI?s dual board "Crossfire" solution.

X1300 Crossfire support added in Catalyst 5.12
As ATI confirmed the X1300 series videocards would be able to work in Crossfire without the need of a master card. You need to have a Crossfire-ready motherboard and two X1300 videocards, aside from that Catalyst 5.12 drivers are needed, because they are the first version that comes X1300 Crossfire support. We've build a Crossfire system with two Sapphire X1300 videocards and it really workd. More about X1300 Crossfire and Catalyst 5.12

Radeon X1300 and X1600 Won't Need Master Cards
A new ATI advisory is out, and it looks like ATI fans are in for an interesting surprise; X1300 and X1600 won't need a master card. We confirmed this with a few AIBs over the last few hours, but it appears that ATI will release a new driver soon that enables Crossfire over the PCIe bus on Radeon X1300 and X1600 video cards - eliminating the need for dedicated master cards.

ATI Delivers GPU-Accelerated Video Transcoding
Back when we reviewed the new high-end X1800 cards from ATI, we made particular note of ATI's investment in making its new chip architecture shine in GPGPU (general-purpose computation on GPU) applications. That is, using the power of the graphics chip for compute-intensive tasks other than graphics.
ATI produce tool to increase Doom3 scores 'up to 35%' with AA enabled
Doom3 and nVidia > Doom3 and ATI ? Think again, ATI has a 'fix' ready for rollout in Catalyst 5.11 which improves performance by up to 35% at high AA modes. HEXUS benched the X1800XT and 7800GTX and ATI has for the first time in history overtaken nVidia's offering in the well-known app.
ATI?s Future Drivers to Take Advantage of Dual-Core Chips
According to ATI?s software product manager Terry Makedon, the company will release CATALYST drivers that take full advantage of microprocessors with two processing engines in about two or three months from now. Given that processors with two cores typically run at lower clock-speeds compared to chips with one core, whereas gaming applications typically do not benefit from the number of cores per processors, a performance boost is likely to allow owners of modern computers to enjoy higher speeds in games.

ATI Promotes SM 2.0 Fear as SM 3.0
In its latest propaganda efforts, ATI has tried promoting the Fear demo as a game that uses Shader Model 3.0. Here's a peek at the chart from the "reviewers guide" they sent out to sites reviewing the cards. The problem is, however, that FEAR is not a game that uses SM3.0.

ATI to Cut Prices on X850 Series
Undoubtedly, NVIDIA has remedied all product launch and availability issues with its GeForce 7 series of graphics cards. First it was the 7800GTX and now the 7800GT, NVIDIA managed to deliver both cards right when it made the announcement. Not only that, but the prices from certain vendors are dropping to fairly desirable levels pretty rapidly. Needless to say, the entire community is waiting for a rebuttal from ATI and its R520 core.
ATI CrossFire Seminar - Helsinki, Finland
