true filesize is identical ..... someone know tool to do binary compare ???

there are 1000 + file i do not want to do this by hand

Actually file size + date and version numbers are identical in my versions.
Im downloading from another source right now and will report back when its finished.

Mystery solved and I have SP2 1228
No, just joking.

If you have one of the following hotfixes installed before you install SP2 the version number will change:

Q820128 Windows XP Kernel Rollup Hotfix Package (5.1.2600.1224)
Q821581 Kernel Update (5.1.2600.1228)

The person that thought he had SP 1224 probably had the Q820128 before he installed SP2 1213.

Here is my installation of SP2 1213 with the Q821581 installed:
