weird upside-down video problems
This is a discussion about weird upside-down video problems in the Everything Windows category; I'm having an odd problem using WMP9 in WinXP; during certain movie clips (not all) the video-image randomly flips upside-down during playback - the problem can only be rectified by closing WMP and restarting it with the same clip, though at the same point the video will flip upside-down again.

All clips that flip using WMP play normally in other software video players, any ideas on what the problem could be and how to fix it?

hmmm this sounds very strange ... is this only one video or many ?? which codec they are using ?

it's happens on several videos that (I think) use several different codecs... yeah I could try WMP10, but it's odd that the problem just sort of spontaneously developed...?
Try to remove your movie codecs, then download the new ones and install them. I know this is a stupid way to do it....but...it should work. This is not the first time I have heard about this strange problem in WMP. But it always works to install the new codecs...or you can download VSfilter (Vobsub), this allow you to flip the picture.......

let it analyse what codecs are associated with the video ... if its more then one maybe 2 codecs are trying to display the video at the same time ... this is possible I myselfe had sucha strange thing ...

the flipping happens at the same place every time particular videos are played... I guess I'll have to track down and reinstall the troublesome codec, though it's strange that the same codec works fine in different software...
I have had this problem before.
I used to have the problem when I first started using WindowsXP. It IS a problem with the codecs that are being used.
To fix the problem is simple.
1) Uninstall ALL codecs that you currently use. If you try using different versions of the same codec, they sometimes conflict and cause weird results.
2) Download and install this Codec Pack: http://b3.edskes.com/klcodec226f.exe
It has the latest versions of all the codecs, and none conflict. They are all Pro versions of the codecs, so you can both Decoded and Encoded with them, and when you watch videos, there are no annoying DivX logos in the corner.

just to update, the problem was fixed by reinstalling the XVID codec... job done!
