proxy servers only make things faster because they cache web pages. they won't do anything for a game.

when you go for proxy browsing .... u set up your "proxy browser" ... I don't know which browser u use ... but it ya right click the IE icon ... choose properities ... then go to connection Tab and hit LAN button ... aren't those setting for gerneral Internet connection ? ... I am not 100% sure cause I never used a proxy ...

and yes as he said ... proxy is just caching ... on games it will slow down since the extra amount of work ... instead of setting up a proxy server there are also various cache managing programs outa there ...
and last .. you may have out of date website using a proxy server !!!
yes believe me ... its not always ... but when you hit refresh on any website you join ... you will notice sooner or later that some will change on refresh ...
I was on the "proxy trip" some time ago, too ... it can help ... but it also gives some trouble ... a well configured brower will be fast without proxy
