time to upgrade....

hey guys,.... just need some advice on what to upgrade on my pc... i can't really decide what i need first, .... my current specs are on my signature... ok this is the plan,.... i wanna get these next for my pc but i cant decide which ones to get first, an audigy soundblaster 2 ZS (i need this for 2 reasons, the sound :roll: and firewire port for my new digital video camera ), a new motherboard that supports the latest athlons (3400+ XP and up) and i dont need onboard sound/gfx, after that i will be able to upgrade my HD's to SATA and be able to support 8x AGP, or an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO or XT PRO model (AIW would be nice)....the only games i plan on playing in the near future are DOOM3, HL2, Farcry and Stalker and would like to play them at a respectable framerate with decent quality settings (1280x1024x32 w/ 4x fsaa and 4x anisotropy filt.) i know thats hard to say since they are not released yet but an idea would be nice, and i also use my pc for software developing....(i use 3dsmax and photoshop the odd time), right now i run all games at 1024x768x32 w/ 2xq fsaa and 2x aniso filt. which is not bad but i just tried out the latest Farcry demo and made my pc show its age,.... runs at like 12-20fps with those settings :oops: , anyways anyone have any advice or tips? if you have any suggestions please feel free to say em and if you suggest a motherboard whats the lest deal going for them? thanks people,.... appreciate it

well if you need it to use your camera I'd use that as an excuse to get an Audigy 2 ZS first.
Plus there not as pricey as the others. But then again It depends on what model you have.
Then I'd go for the Mobo, as this is what will let you branch out into your other upgrades and then just upgrade as you need to.
Lets say for example go for your graphics card after the mobo and leave the HDDs till last.

2. new Mobo with NF2 Ultra like NF7(-S) v2
3. with the new mobo you can easy OC your CPU to 3200+ / 3400+
4. 9800PRO fo way better price / performance ratio then XT
5. I am planning to make a 3 disk RAID with a Sil3114 controller and 3 80 gig barracuda 7200.7 8MB

Buy a new mainboard. Something like mine of a AbitNF72, You can get the processor you have up to a 3000+ by simply upping the mulitplier to 13x. Buy a 9800 Pro or something along those lines. Then get your audigy ZS.
thanks for the replies guys.... its funny how everyone has different suggestions, i guess everyone has there own favourite computer part ... but i think i am going to go with the audigy 2 zs first mainly becuase it gives a little better performance than my live card and it has the firewire port ,... then i will probably go with a motherboard maybe in the summer and then a video card in sept.... then the HD's can wait, ..... 110gb's should be ok as long as i keep backing up everything ..... damn wish i had a dvd burner now....
