Yesterday I recevied the following email:
Domain Name: warp2search.net
Creation Date: 2001-08-11 07:46:08 UTC
Expiration Date: 2003-08-11 01:53:24 UTC
That was a shock in the morning. I bootet my computer, check mail emails and got an email with the content you can see above.
Also the mail told me: The domain is allready offered at domaingrabber for 500 !!! USD.
Damm, I was really shocked, I saw all our work go to hell, I saw myself start from the beginning.
I checked my invoices, if I had everything paided or if i missed an invoice. But everything looked fine.
I picked up the phone and called my ISP and "told" them the problem. At this point i have to say sorry to the support lady on the other site of the phone, well I was a "bit" pissed off.
"Yes Mr. Thomsen, i will check it right now, yes, it s everythinks fine with you, you did all well, I don t know why the Corenice not updated yet but I will talk to my boss, I give u a call back in a couple of minutes".
I allready saw the domain routed to a 3third party advertimsent website or to a porn site or somewhere else.
I called my Sys Admin talked to him, Mike what we can do ? Wasn t there something, that the domain goes "on hold" for 30 days before it s free for sale ? The support lady told me that......
Mike: "If the company drives this policy it s cool, but the RIPE has not to to do".
Yes, that was the answer I would like to hear................. :-?
I called my Domain ISP again, told them the new informations, the guys were a bit nervous about it but i did not received an answer if the issue is fixed or not.....
Tomorrow morning i started the PC, started IE with my favourite website and...... Warp comes on my screen.
Than I checked my emails and i received the information:
Dear Mr. Thomsen, sorry for the inconvidence, but u don t have to worry, everything is solved.
RIPE had an update delay, we update the domains automaticly. Attached was this:
Updated Date: 12-aug-2003
Creation Date: 11-aug-2001
Expiration Date: 11-aug-2004
Ufffff...... but i am 5 years older now with my first grey hair ;-)

nice story ..... I can't imagine beeing linked to some stupid adv. page ....
I just have had the same shock as you read the mail when I played around with my PC and finally wanted to insert the FDD
I had to remove the RAM which was new expensive Corsair400 as below ...
FDD was insert ... turned on PC .. oh forgot RAM ....
PC layed down again .... modul set into slot now just a little pressure and its in .....
but then I slipped off and there was a really fatal sounding glottal stop

sitting back on my chair .... looking at the modul ..... thank god its not broken ...
argh then it must be mobo .... phew it alright, too ....

U know the same thing happens(not with Xpensive hardware like urs though) when i am on a call/or setting up networks in a big banks.. there always is local admin/manager sitting next to me .. when something like this happens (Big POP or tat noise )in these times i pray as if i am loosing my life but my face is like "Hey-This PC is playing naughty , that nothing .. in 3 secs everything wil be fine " and the local persons (manager, admin anybody of that company) face is like "Yeah .. it better .. or your a** is mine/ ours "
I remember one time I stabbed my old TNT video card with a screw driver when I added a heatsink on it to over clock

yeah thats the most horrible thing ..... somebody is siting next to you and now wants to see something ....
you know that you can do it .... but he is sitting next to you with a smile on the face ...."I did not get now show me you can get it" and then something gets wrong .......... sure you can fix both problems .... but huh fuck this is not my PC .... is there backup ... is something broken .... shit what have you done .... ;)

I switched my front USB cable and my front panel (LED/switch etc) cable on the motherboard and the USB cable went up in smoke. I can still remember the smell and the sight of smoke pouring out of my power supply. I have a picture of the cable but W2S doesn't have attachment capabilities for forum posts. I was scared as hell, but all that was damaged was the cable, and Antec sent me a replacement free of charge.
