I have a small irritant that maybe someone in here know the answer to.

The taskbar. Everytime I reboot it resets it's self.

I have it set to autohide, keep on top, show quick launch. It is also locked.
I have dragged in a few icons off the desk top I like to use there.
At every reboot, I have to set it up again. After the boot, the taskbar quick launch items are gone and the taskbar settings
have to be reset.

Anyone know of a way to set the taskbar settings and make the permanent?

for whatever reason, the version you saved is how it appears at boot, not the way you want it.
you need to unlock the TB then go through and unselect/reselect each option, reboot and then if it's right relock it

I have tried everything.. I have unclicked all the boxes in the properties menu, I have made a new taskbar, I have locked the tb, unloacked the tb again and again. It always comes up the same. It comes up locked. I have to unlock the tb and drag a few desktop itmes back in.
I know it may seem minor, there has got to be a registry setting to clear or reset it or something.

hi it sounds like you or a program you have installed has disabled SAVE USER SETTINGS.

so look through your tweak program(s) if your have recently installed/fiddled with any. if that doesnt help... try this:

look down at #30, when you click on the link its a .VBS script (i'm using mozilla it wont launch it.. it just shows me the script) so you may have to right click and choose Save As.

set EVERYTHING the way you want it.. run that script.. it will prompt you to log off.. DONT.. do a full reboot. (your antivirus may go nuts when you execute the script, you can safely allow it to run)
you can also open the .vbs script in notepad and check out what it changes if your nervous.. and if your really paranoid (like me sometimes)
go to StartRun and run REGEDIT.exe
choose File then Export, and save a back up of your registry.

this fixed my very same problem.. till i found out it was a setting in Tweakxp powerpack.... iirc the setting in there that was messing me up, was "Dont Restart programs on Reboot" or something like that.
when i enabled that in the tweak program.. it broke my save user settings.. erm setting:)

Mmm_Beefy. Thanks.. That did the trick..

Yea, I use tweaknow powerpack and maybe something in there did it a while back.
I grabbed the script and ran it. Didn't work at first. I set everything back up, ran it again and PRESTO!! All is where I left it..

Thanks again and for the tips page. I hadn't found that one..
