SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
Obvious-sounding though the blend might be, the combination of real-time strategy and role-playing game styles is a hard one to get right. German developer Phenomic tried back in 2004 with the original Spellforce to only moderate critical success, but the game did well enough to spawn two expansion packs.

German developer Phenomic tried back in 2004 with the original Spellforce to only moderate critical success, but the game did well enough to spawn two expansion packs. Now they're taking another crack at the big time with Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars.
