I just did, I guess
I first tried the Softmod9x00, didnt work for me, then W1zzards files, didnt work either. Then I tried the Tommi-file, and I guess it worked (Smoothvision says 2.1 instead of II) And I also got 300 points more out of 3dmark03.
Edit: This is how I did it:
1.Have 3.2 Installed
2.Download this http://www.tommti-systems.de/main-D...st/ati2mtag.exe Extract it
3. delete the ati2mtag.sy _ from the C:ATIsupportwxp-w2k-radeon-7-84-03022Ã¥1-008040c-efg2KXP_INFB_08037 listing and copy you the modifizirte ati2mtag.sys (unpack before!) inside
4.now you install the drivers again by means of actualization and not with the setup.exe ... In other words dont use setup to install it , use hardware manager
Edit2: Hmm, I installed the drivers again, but this time I force-installed the 9800 PRO drivers This is what happened:

Hi guys!
I'm also quite happy with the driver mod of Tommi. After the mod it gave me following in 3dmark2003 (with stock speed and standard settings):
>4739<
Hopefully the 3.3 Catalyst drivers of Ati are even better!!?!!

here is what found at digitlife.com :-
RADEON 9700 PRO => RADEON 9800? We doubt... - Cormac @ 14:37
The Web brought information that RADEON 9800 PRO owes its highest performance to 6.307 drivers optimized for this new solution. Besides, a number of websites posted that forcing Device ID RADEON 9800 in drivers resulted in a considerable performance boost of RADEON 9700 PRO.
We experimented with drivers patching in our videolab (thank to Alexey Nikolaychuk, RivaTuner creator) and proved there´s no boost. Moreover, having been detected as RADEON 9800 PRO, RADEON 9700 PRO indicated performance drop.
To check if forcing actually works, we made our RADEON 9700 PRO be detected as RADEON 9500 128MB. And obtained results of RADEON 9500.
So, our German colleagues, who posted this "sensation" first, are either wrong, or have an ace in the hole.
By the way, introducing you our photos of original RADEON 9800 Pro, which we received from ATI.

I don't agree!!!
My previous scores in 3dmark2003 were around 4606, with new Catalyst 3.2 + mod file (from ati2mtag.exe) I can go to 4739... and see the performance boost clearly with my eyes!!!
So you guys, don't tell me that there's nothing changed!!!

my 9500np -> 9700+9800 Driver Paths! mod from 3.1 -> 3.2!, AWESOME!
For those of you with 9500non pro's like mine that can successfully mod to 9700, will love this!
This is what I did step by step....
Uninstall current 3.1's and Control Panel
Reboot
Run this program once.... http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/DCSetup_11.zip
Then install 3.2 driver and Control Panel
Reboot
Go to the Post here about the 9700 -> 9800 Driver Paths
Download the atimag.sys file posted in that article.
Put that file in a temp directory.
If you have not the most recent version of Rivatuner go to www.guru3d.com get it!
Install and Run it, Patch the atimag.sys file you downloaded and put in a temp directory <- worked for me!
After its patched, move that atimag.sys from the temp directory and replace the one in your system32drivers Folder
Reboot
Test it out! to confirm both are working...
fill rate test in 3dmark2k1 should double in scores, of course you know that its modded to a 9700 now
to confirm the 9800 driver path mod:
Go to your smoothvision settings in your advanced driver page
Should say SMOOTHVISION 2.1 instead of SMOOTHVISION II

Well, ofcourse something changed, It's the 9800 driverpath --- Which will be available for everyone in the Catalyst 3.3 ;)
There's no performance boost? I don't really know what they are talking about.. I did some benchmarking with Unreal Tournament 2003 with my Hercules 3DProphet 9700 Pro.
