Radeon 9600 Pro overclocks like crap...
I traded up from my old GeForce 4 Ti4200 8x to an ATI 9600 Pro. I thought it'd be a decent jump, but it was about even with the 4200 (Which I had overclocked).

I read buttloads of reviews that said the 9600 Pro smoked everything in it's range for overclocking, so I picked one up.
I got it home, and after a few delays, I got it up and running.
This Radeon overclocks like crap. I only managed to get it up to 472 and 331 with stock cooling, and I may still be getting slight artifacts. Am I doing something wrong, or did they crapify the series after the reviews came out?!

luck its just based on luck ! how good is the GPU/RAM ... its just like OC on CPUs .... you can have one (like me) Athlon XP which was not even able to handle 100MHz more without significant voltage increase ... and you can have one which goes just 500MHz higher at default voltage ...
you can just :hail: to get a good one ...

Thats toooo hard .....
I AM NO ATi FANBOY nor AM I A nVIDIA FANBOY .... right at the moment there no card which can be really recommended ... right now I am thinkin of buying a 9800 PRO ... its a really good card ... and since the new OMEGA driver fixes the last annoying bug seen on ATi and there are just small issues I can live with .. I choose Ati because it cheaper then NV and both have same potential ...
