hello,
i have the DVR-A04 Retail Box version. i am jealous of you though. this came out already? wow!
maybe you should flash the rom for the dvr-ao5 and see if this works.
belto...
hello again, do you mean DVR-104? because the DVR-A05/105 is not available yet.
There is a notice on pioneer's web site. it states something about mandatory requirements for the DVR-A04/104. please do so and i think your problems will be solved. i did this and it is a lot easier than you think.
good luck,

Oh yes, I have the 105. it's released in Sweden for an affordable price. about $270 (fixed). There are no firmware updates for A05/105 yet, I've been looking for it, trust me
I think it just don't support these no-name crap discs I bought for it. Ordered 10 new discs from another manufacturer, hopefully they will work!

There is an area on a CD-R (and DVD recordable media) layout that is used for calibrating the power of the drive's laser. One setting is used for reading, and another is used for writing. The calibration process is destructive, and this area is used up each time a disk is inserted and the laser calibrates for the media.
If you are getting a power calibration error, the calibration area is used up, or the media is incompatible.
Im sure you are right. Thanks.
