In XP I can't figure out how to pause Autorun. In 98 and even W2000 when I put in a program/data CD, I can hold down the "Shift" Key and the CD will not autorun. Was the feature dropped in XP Pro? It's not important, but got use to using this feature. Thanks

Well in XP home not sure of XP pro, go to start > my computer> What ever flavor your CD player is (CD-RW, CD, DVD, DVD-RW) > right click on your CD player >properties second tab should say auto play Pick the subjects Music files, pictures, video files, mixed content, music cd, blank cd. and assign them what you want them to do if you insert a cd. There are also a variety of Tweak programs that also disable Auto Play.

OP
sierrawolf: Thanks but this is not the same. I've tried this and it changes autorun permanantly. The old holding shift key only bypassed autorun the one time. I can find this feature in the Tweaks that I've found. Powertoys has no mention of this.
