i wanna play some online games such as starcraft or counterstrike... i have dsl but am using a router/hub and i can't seem to get into a game without getting disconnected... i think i might be behind a firewall or something.. does anyone know how i can fix this.... thanx in advance

The firewall on your computer or router won't matter if you're just joining the game. If you can connect at all even for a second it means the firewall isnt the problem.

If you're hosting games however you'll need to check the manual or readme for the game and find out which ports to forward in the routers setup screen.

Are you playing these via battle.net? also do you have the latest patches install for everything?

yea... i tried to play on battle.net and i joined some games... it said i wasn't lagging but whenever the game started i would get disconnected...

If your using DSL make sure and your pings are good! IE line interference,
make sure you have a line filter...sounds like that is the problem...try connecting to my FTP server and downloading somethng small you should get at least 30k rate if not you got a DSL problem I run 256k upstream on cable modem ftp://mrcleen.homeip.net. Just a suggestion :o

I am playing on Battle.net over 2 years now (diablo2&warcraft3)...most of the time its laging.Its normal.

But now to your problem...
Check your system for Ads with ADAWARE....
i am lagging like hell when some spyware from Gator was running in the background.

At least it's free. Sony is crazy trying to charge for FPS servers on Planetside. I hope Sony dies.

agreed blizzard has been doing this for a long time and i hope they continue the diablo series here in the next year or so.
