OEM!?

This is a discussion about OEM!? in the General Graphics Card Talk category; I was wondering if someone can help me out. . . . . . . . . I'm looking to buy a new graphics card online, on alot of the sites it's printed the cards are OEM, If memory serves me correctly, that means a generic box with little or no software other than drivers.

:-? Yep, That's right :-?

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer. Sometimes you don't even get a box - just a bag.

This doesn't mean what's in the box / bag is no good. It's just that these are the packaging methods used to send system builders their products.

They don't need all the fancy packaging and they usually get sent one set of drivers / software which they can use as a master installation source.

What it does mean is that you can usually pick up a good product at a very good price. I mean most people have thae "bonus" software already or wouldn't use it anyway, so if you've got your eye on a good OEM deal on a product then you should go for it.

The choice though is entirely yours.

whats about "bulk" versions.....they are also in a bag and with a drivers cd.....

they are much cheaper than "retail" versions where you get the full package...with games....add ons....and the useless manual
