nothing works to stop balloon tips, help me or shoot me
This is a discussion about nothing works to stop balloon tips, help me or shoot me in the Everything Windows category; I did a google search, did all the regedit stuff, downloaded powertoys, nothing works. everytime I hold mouse over anything, shortcuts, icons I get that yellow balloon tip crap.

Have you tried opening My Computer and going to
Tools > Folder options > View tab.
Then scroll to the bottom of the list of options and untick "Show pop-up descriptions for folder and desktop items"
then click Apply, then click "Apply to all folders" at the top, then select OK, and it should be gone...

It was un checked, so I checked it then hit all folders then apply, then unchecked it again, did the same. no luck ;[ When I hold the mouse over my shortcuts or the start button the balloons show up.

That tip looked sooo good, but it did nothing, I enabled it, rebooted, still
get that "click here to begin, along with the other tips. I dont understand whats going on, I'm the only user, I have XP Pro, clean install.
I really thank you guys for the replys . Somehow it must be resetting itself. who the heck knows. Really thanks again for the suggestions!

I used powertoys, unistalled them, reinstalled them, still the balloons from hell creep back into my life.
Yup XP Anti-Spy is the smallest solution if you have 56k modem.
Xteq X- Setup 6.2 final from lockergnomes is 1 all around tweaking tool. You can get it from major geeks or a number of places. You can tweak to your hearts content. It has everything from internet explorer to cache to clearing stuff at log off and everything in between.
