Hello peeps, ... I just recently installed NAV 2004 PRO and everything runs normal except that when I boot up the pc it went from 30 secs to boot to almost 2 mins. I tried using various things to see if they work such as BOOTVIS, and even looking in startup to see whats starting up, but no luck, doesn anyone else have the same problem? How can I be able to fix this boot slowdown? It just sits there for about 1 min (looks like its frozen) then goes on and loads everything else up... any suggestions would be great!! thx peeps

ps... I installed over NAV 2003 PRO as the readme.txt didn't say to uninstall 2003, (only if you had 2002)...

Thats not bad , when I install Norton 2004, I have to actavite it, then when I reboot, it says my trial period is expired, and I can not use it at all.
Have been talking to Norton about this and they can't seem to figure it out.
Any suggestions? I have even done a complete format and a clean install

not use NAV !
Kaspersky AV is way better .... more professional ... no 10000 stupid extra tools you have to install ..... Just the main files the scanner and the updater thats all clean fast and Virus-killing-machine
try it ...

you will like it ... since 4.5 NAV has no more advantage over Kas.

What you're decribing sounds a lot like a search for network drives, folders and maybe printers. I've never installed Win 2003 so I can't tell you exactly where to look but in XP you'd go to Control Panel/Folder Options/View and turn off the checkbox for "Automatically search for network folders and printers". Somewhere in 2003 there has to be a switch to turn off the search for network drives as well. This generally only happens during the boot process.
NAV 2001 used to do the same thing on my system and when I disabled all the network searching crap, my boot times decreased back to where they should have been. I haven't made the "leap" yet to 2004 but have it and have been thinking about installing it. Maybe I won't as 2001 is still working fine (at least as far as I can tell).
Anyway ... I hope this helps.
Later.
i came accross NORTON ANTISPAM (more like ANTI-$HIT, program sucks).... i installed it and when i booted up the slowdown was gone,... so instead of my pc booting up in 3 mins it only took 30 seconds .... but also let me mention that before i rebooted (after installing anti-spam), i went into NAV 2004 clicked on OPTIONS then chose NAV... then under AUTO-PROTECT (on the left) i went to EXCLUSIONS and added a new exclusion, ... *.JS ... so hopefully you can try the options part first,... if that doesnt work get a trial version of ANTISPAM or something and install it,... then you can remove it,... and your pc should boot up normally.... dont ask me how.... i guess i am just lucky....
