This is the best Distri i´ve ever used (not only me )
Ubuntu is based on Debian....working with .deb files and the amazing apt!
never updating an OS was as simply as here
It´s standart Windowsmanager is GNOME
there is also a KDE version, called
KUBUNTU
and for classroom use:
EDUBUNTU
and the best:
IT´S FREE!
no BS like Suse and Co
u can Download Ubuntu as Live/Install CD and as Live/Install DVD! (also for 64bit!!!! )
so, if working with linux:
Ubuntu is it!
