New copyright law
Why do you keep telling us about this spyware crap ? Do they pay you to advertise them ?

Tomorrow, a new copyright law starts in germany and austria, in the next months in the whole EU, which forbids us, to report about software which helps users to copy CD´s / DVD´s which are copyprotected.
That means, we are not allowed to report about tools like CloneCD, Alcoholsoftware,CloneyXXL and others.
Our server is based in the netherlands but we are not shure if we are affected because our homes and offices are based in germany.
For security reasons we stop posting about those software from tomorrow, our attorneys are instructed to find out what we can post and what not.
The new law was a "suggestion" of our lovely music industry

You need to use the laws where the server is situated. they can only go after a webmaster if his server is displaying illegal content AND is located in a country where the items (in his case news about burning tools) is illegal.
so if the server was in Nigeria or timbuktu ;P it wouldnt be a problem.
but i'd think that alcohol software and the CCD cretors could sue the eu and music industry for obstructing their business...

Also If the Nero (I think its german based). Alcohol and other CD creators dont sue , there is definately something with them. I gaurentee U this is not the last we hav heard on this topic.
BTW guys .. here in Asia/ India ..whenever a government takes decisions like this we say "They must got tons of money for passng this law" ... Does it happen there also .. DoU think it mught have happened ??
Kyro.
I know what comes next .... anyone who ownes a hammer or reports anything about hammers will be arrested immediately ... because it is possible that you will use it to stave a window with it and then you are only 0,1 step from braking into a house ...
so lets forbit any hammer out there and the problem is gone ....
WONDERFUL how easy things can be solved

Nero is allowed to use. What is not allowed is the following: Software and HARDWARE which can break copypretection.
Shure, with Nero you can make 1:1 copies BUT: Nero does NOT break the copyprotection, your BURNER with RAW modus does. So burners with RAW are not allowed any more in germany / austria and in a few months in the EU.
Companies allready have taken legal steps against the law, we will see how it will work out.
EU - Countries without Burners..... LOL
False Statement: Piracy-protection protects against Piracy.
True Statement: Piracy-protection does not protect against Piracy.
False Statement: The one who bought the CD will be the ones that will be able to use it.
True Statement: The one who bought the CD will be the ones that will not be able to use it.
True Statement: Cracks is traditionally used to use copy-protected software.
True Statement: Piracy-Copies are rarely copy-protected when distributed.
Another attempt to get rid of piracy by shooting down customers.
Best regards

What a joke? Can I sue Dell , Gateway or any other manufacture for supplying me with a CD-R or DVD-R burner that might possibly be use to infringement copyright but are not or any manufactures that supply devices that can infringement copyright! the answer is no ? but there could be cases in the States or EU were you could claim entrapment? so what gives the music and movie industry the right to tell us what we can buy and use..
Are CloneCD, Alcoholsoftware,CloneyXXL any different from what the judge said in the Grokster and StreamCast case apart from that you have already paid for the CD or Movie?
Grokster and StreamCast are not significantly different from companies that sell home video recorders or copy machines, both of which can be and are used to infringe copyrights
If you real want to make a difference stop buying CD and Movies and if you live in Germany or Austria get down to your local record label and picket their Offices.
When it comes to Music piracy it's not the peeps like me and you that might download a track have a listen and than go out and buy the album or single that are the problem? It comes down to organised gangs that are the problem.

Sorry EC .. too much coffee + RIAA news :x = goof up
Eh?
It's censorship !!
Hope they suggest that they sell CDs and DVDs that can sell then. I wonder if riia/mpaa would react if no-one would copy music/movies, and the still sold less cds/dvds?
One should start a lawsuit against riaa and/or mpaa for bad music/movies.
I wonder if riaa/mpaa have done a research about the quality/interesting the music/movies the pump out?
Hope there is people that will overturn that law.
Are the police going to listen to people on the streets a see if anyone is talking about copying?
