Ok people, My Board is crap (Gigabyte GA-8IDML) and I want to replace it but I have PC133 memery and can't afford to upgrade the board and memery at the same time so what I want is a board that runs both PC 133 and DDR (not at the same time as its not possible).

Ok people,

My Board is crap (Gigabyte GA-8IDML) and I want to replace it but I have PC133 memery and can't afford to upgrade the board and memery at the same time so what I want is a board that runs both PC 133 and DDR (not at the same time as its not possible).
I have 2x256mb installed to make 512mb.

So does anyone have any recommendations about a board i could get, and then I can upgrade my memery later on.

Thanx in advance

generally a mobo with a SIS chipset will allow u to support both memory types.

But sis arent really that good. Check out WWW.ECSUSA.COM as they do a couple of twin memory capable mainboards.

i'm not sure if yours is an intel or amd system but in general I'd agree with peav, SiS/AMD boards based on the 735 chipset should fill your needs. I personally own the ECS K7S5A with support for PC133 and PC2100 memory (2 dimm slots each). But you should be warned though, this board ain't absolutely problem free (but which board can be called that anyway). I.e. I couldn't install Win XP on this board with PC133 ram for no obvious reasons, but with DDR Ram it worked flawless. But there are no real alternatives if you insist on using your old memory...

OP
Sorry poeple I ment to say I have a P4 1.6ghz CPU

Anyway I've been looking around and the dual boards are pritty poor so I've decided to save a little more and get a DDR only board.

I have seen a nice board by a company called LEX but I've never heard of them, Does anyone know of them or are there boards good???

Thanx
