This is a discussion about Nero, Easy CD Creator or others? Which one is the best? in the General Software category; Of course its not a true 24bit sound card, True 24bit sound cards cause $500 or more. .

There is an infinite number of programs that let you burn CDs, but what's the difference with one and the other? Why do people choose Nero Burning Rom or Adaptec Easy CD Creator (the most popular ones) among others? Well, this forum will help you buy the best one. Your answer to this post should have the following...
1) What CD burning software do you use (and its version)?
2) Why?
3) Why don't you use others?

1) Nero 5.5.10
2) I like the interface, never had any problems/conflicts using with any OS/hardware and i like the regular updates/improvement to the software.
3) I have only used Easy CD Creator and just wasent impressed, i havent tried the others but i guess it all comes down to personal preference and experience.
I'm happy with Nero it works for me and i dont have a desire to use anything else.

1) Nero!
2) Nice features, and it can either be as simple as possible to use. (Express or Wizard mode) or as complex as you like with options to change everything. (Standard non-wizard mode)
The extra tools they throw in with the retail version are a big bonus too, video converters, audio editor, cover designer and even a virus scanner.
3) Can't stand Easy-CD's interface, Clone CD is useless for creating full vcd's and other normal data ect. that dosnt involve cd images, and I dont even like it's image burning features. CDRWin's interface is even worse than EZ-Cd's. I havent tried RecordNow.

1> Nero Express v5.5.10.0. I do have a few others just for cloning CDs but for casual burning it has to be Nero.
2>Nero Express is just really easy to use, stable, and flexible, if I want advanced features I switch over to Nero Burning Rom to get all the extra features, but for simple burning Nero Express is great.
3>I do use others but seeing as Easy CD Creator has a nasty bug in it where it can make all your CD-ROMs disapear from My Computer (see it at least once a week as a Frys Tech), CDRWIN isn't that comfortable to work in, and most of the others just don't have the quality. However when it comes to direct clones of copyright CDs, its pretty weak but it was never intended for that I guess

OP
Well.... it seems that although easy cd creator is well known, it is behind nero and others. I really thought someone would like ECDC. What a surprise . Continue posting replies and voting.
Nero is the best overall burning software. It does CD & DVDs. It supports an impressive list of hardware. It's good for mom and dad and the kidz too. It also isn't bloatware.
For advanced users it supports overburning and several popular image formats (ISO and CUE/BIN)
EZCD Creator is getting worse and worse with every release. It's bloatware. It installs a tray icon that takes more than 8MB of RAM.
Alcohol and CloneCD are great for making 1:1 duplicates of, ah, difficult material. But it's probably best left for advanced users only.

Roxio's ECDC 5 is good for "ameteur" burning, but you MUST have compatible drives for their Direct CD application. Nero is the best software that I use because....
1. Ease of use:
2. Constant software upgrades & support
3. Works with ALL makes & models of CDRW/DVDRW
4. 0% Bloatware
5. Supports All current burning protocols (Mt. Rainer, Overburning, etc..)
Ahead Software - Keep Up The Good Work!!

One word of warning, Nero 5.5.10 is full of bugs and can cause problems on some systems.
Get the latest version 5.5.10.7b which cures this.
Hope this helps

What you really seemed to mean by original question is what is best mastering software (ie add data to CD, create audio CD from mp3, etc.), and for this I much prefer Nero. When it comes to copying games and working with images Alcohol 120% is king, great interface, great capabilities, built in emulation and burning. CCD has nice interface too, but a bit outdated for copying now.
1) it came with my burner & has allowed me to continue to upgrade, currently 55.10.20
2) works great including INCD which i cannot say the same for ECDC which i used for years
3) plugins & other programs like neromix work well too

the good ol days i use to use EZCD (3 or 4?) when it was easy and simple and non of that eye candy memory hogging like now (thats what prolly gave me underruns on me ol 8x) now that i have a better writer i perfer nero, simple drag and click and not full of eye candy
eye candy just attracts the consumers and those that arent experienced with computers, they want to choose the how to use/help me features, most software these days will tend to look like XP scheme just to get the consumer's attention
1)Burning music/data i choose: Nero Burning Rom
2)Creating/Burning Image files: BlindWrite Suite
