I do believe he is talking about the MSN Browser solution, not msn messenger...
and we've known from the beginning that they would charge for msn 9.0

Um, MSN is an ISP, much like AOL. They had their (free) MSN Explorer a while back but I think they took it down. Right now they still have it for their ISP customers and it is supposed to be pretty good... I guess if I had dialup or whatever, I would choose MSN over AOL.
