remove it from control panel & reboot, windows will find it & put in the proper drivers

OP
How do I remove it from the contral panel? Do you mean when you open my computer and the little picture of the CD-RW is there?
He probably means "remove it from the device manager" Unsure if that will help, but you could try.
Is it detected by the BIOS at bootup?
klicker means open up Device manager, right click the CDROM and select uninstall, if it's not listed there, try uninstalling the IDE controller in device manager and rebooting, that should force it to redetect ide drives.

i have the same CD-Rom driver but it works fine with me
Right click on My Computers -> Propertise -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> CD/DVD Rom Drivers -> Right Click on the Device -> Propertise -> Driver -> Unistall Driver
after u did that just restart and that should fix it
