Hi everyone

I recently bought a K7N2 Delta ILSR nForce2 board and installed it in the case. Also put my CPU (Barton2500) and RAM (2x PC3200 TwinMOS) and the Vidcard (GF3 Ti200) in. Didn't attached any drives or PCI devices.

The problem: about 2 secs after powering up the computer shuts itself off, somtimes with a beep! I tried every possible solution with the RAM, 1 stick, 2 sticks, different slots, no success.

Any ideas or hints?

already did that (the cmos clearing) and I also tried the "safe" jumper (=100 MHz FSB) thingy. I never managed to even get into the bios...
Actually the comp doesn't stay on for a whole second.
BTW: I have a Chieftec 360W PSU.

I have no idea where to search for the error :(

hmmmmmm
then try to put the CPU Cooler into another slot damn dunno the word ... put the fan into another outlet ... try all if the PC starts and shuts down it must be something like that ..... and ... check if the cooler is really placed right ... and there is not too much but enough WLP it may also be the overheating protection which shuts PC down before ur CPU burns

Sounds like a heat problem there fella, i had the same problem with a friends comp, and after some investigation it turned out to be the CPU running to hot from boot, changed the cooler and it was fine !

It seems that it was indeed the heat!
I cleaned the die, reapplied the termal stuff, put the cooler (Tt volcano 7+) back on and switched it from med to hi. No more freezes although my pc now sounds like a aircraft...
Thank you very much, guys!!!

maybe ur WLP is BS ..... I used Arctic Silver 1 then 2 whcih is basically a very very good compound .... but it lost its pros over time cus it got like "water"
now I switched to AS Ceramique ... cheaper .... better .... and no performance lost over time .... very very good thing ....

6 of 5 stars

maybe u should try out ...

I...ehm...used the stuff supplied with the heat sink...
meanwhile the system is running stable but the cooler is annoyingly loud!!
also "pc alert" shows a cpu temp of 60°c. is this too hot?

yeah differs from mobo to mobo but 60° is hot ... and if you use the crappy default WLP/pad ... you should really look for AS C ... as I said its damn cheap ... really worth any penny

I don't believe what a fucking shit Tt supplies as thermal grease with their heatsinks!!
I was cleaning up this morning when I found a syringe of thermal grease I once bought for my "ex-computer".
Out of curiousity (and desperation ) I tried it on my cpu. Voila, temps are down to 44°C (idle) 53°C (load), no more freezes...

Thanks for your advice, Mertsch!
