Well, first of all, I will take you on the cruddy journey of my MSI TI4600 GeForce 4. I bought it almost a year ago. Definetly a beutifull card. Performed remarkably over my old GeForce 2. That was all up untill 6 months ago. Games started having massive glitch outs, I would get funky blocks all over the screen, everything was garrbled, and it would lock up. And to put icing on the cake, the glitched out graphics were in 2D applications to, lol, even the bios boot screen. In hopes of fixing the problem, I...
Tried MSI latest drivers
Tried Nvidia latest drivers
Reinstalled XP
Upgraded DX9
Updated my Bios
Nothing would fix this sucker. I finally decided, its gotta be the card. So i contacted MSI and got it replaced. Got a brand new card, very nice looking model too. Tossed it in, and wouldnt ya know it, the glitches were still there. Well, I wasnt sure whether to laugh or cry, lol. But then i figured, well damn, its gotta be the board, doesnt like this card for some reason. So I got my new board, the K7N2 Delta, new power supply, new....(eh, new everything). Tossed the 4600 in there, and guess what, graphics bugs, STILL THERE! lol, and these are the same bugs too, im sure of it, look exactly the same. And I'm positive they sent me a diffrent card, not my old one. Unless they changed the tint, gave it a new heatsink, hehe.
Well, After all that, unless one of you got some miracle cure, hehe, Ive decided to part with my GeForce 4. I'm now looking at the ATI 9800 Pro (The 128 meg version). Why the 128? Well after looking over many benchmarks, the extra memory for $100 more really doesnt add a lot more performance. Dont really want to pay $500. But as I made this decision, something lit up in the back of my head. I want to buy an ATI card.... I have a nForce 2 board....nForce being Nvidia. Hehe, this begs the question, Are these two gonna get along? I mean I doubt they would release boards that cant support a whole brand of card and just not say anything. But it does leave me curious.
Thanks for the help guys.
