Hi there
EAX Stands for " Environmental Audio eXtensions " and is basically a way of making the sounds you hear have more depth. For instance if your playing a game that supports EAX and you go into a cave the sound will then sound hollow and echoed.
Only the Soundblaster Cards support EAX on hardware, but alot of cards are now emuilation EAX mainly the SoudStorm chip

huh....i own a Soundlaster 16 (16bit) *g*
maybe i should use this card in my Linux-Machine ...mhhh
but i think we always come to the same
if u own SoundStorm, u donĀ“t really need to buy an extra Card, or u are an extreme gamer and u want to feel like to be ingame...
but i think if u buy good speakers like 5.1 then Soundstorm is good enough
and with all other SoundChips,
i think if u can spend some money to a sound-box, do it and buy it
