I like to try all the latest software, and im looking forward to seeing 3dmark03 but it requires dx9. As a general rule I try to stay away from MS stuff cause its generally unstable crap, especially until its been out for a long while. All their initial releases are buggy, unstable ccrap in my opinion. I have not installed SP1 and do NOT intend to from the things I have read about it so far. Xp works fine for me the way it is. Is dx9 the usual MS type of release. Is it full of bugs and a crash causer? Or is it actually safe to download even though it has had a shot life span so far. (this would be a huge suprise). So, should I download it, or wait till it is aleast 6mos old and then relectantly download it? (this is pretty much my standard MS software practice) Your comments and suggestions please. Thanx in advance.

I installed on its day of release and no problems with DX9 whatsoever, or XP SP1 (in fact it fixed many bugs). I disagree with your comments about MS stuff unstable/buggy, well at least no more than any other software manafacture!

More often than not problems are the fault of the users not installing properly and/or having buggered up somthing on their system themselves!

OP
you are certainly allowed to disagree. thanx for the reply. my opinion has just developed that way after years of and working as level 2 and 3 tech aside from my real job. I've also been using ms software since 286/MS-DOS. pretty sure I can install software correctly, although I also understand that comment. ( I worked in support for godsakes ) LOL

All those problems with the so called "unstable/buggy" MS software is likely being caused by an IUI error

That's an interesting way to contradict yourself. Not even in two separate paragraphs. Right after each other. Wow.

Why don't you make a System Restore Point, install DX9, and test for yourself? With all your years of experience I am sure you know that most bugs are specific to a combination of hardware/software. Surely DX9 is not perfect. No software ever is. Maybe it will work fine for you. You can always remove it if it makes your life a living hell.
